BARBECUE FOR HELPING HANDS    PROGRAM
A barbecue was held for the teens who worked for the Helping Hands program The Seniors who had work done were also invited. Approximately 60 people joined us for hamburgers and corn, compliments of the Essex Retirees. Thanks to Alma Wiley       Cecile Edwards and Lily Hundey for their help in the kitchen. The Helping Hands Program was made possible by a grant from United Way. Pictured above are some of the youth involved in this project They are:-

And Mike Rounding..
   These young people, Washed Windows and walls, housecleaned, Painted,, Mowed Lawns,Vacuumed, ,dusted, polished
And many other odd jobs , to numerous to mention  to help the Seniors in our               community. They deserve a  Great Big  THANK YOU from all of us. We really     appreciate their time and effort.

LADIES TEA :
Thanks to Mary Bebee  Maxine Weller for all their hard work on the Ladies Tea. Approximately 30 ladies were treated to tea and goodies.                              A discussion was held regarding new programs that could be offered here at the centre. Thanks also to Lily Hundey, Alma Wiley and Ruby Robertson who baked for the occassion. We had many good suggestions and we hope to introduce some of them in the very near future. The "Tea" was so lovely that it was agreed that it would be nice to hold one every month or so …….Any volunteers to help with the next one ???

DIABETES WELLNESS CENTRE
Since the turnout for the presentation last month was so very well attended, we have scheduled another talk for Thursday. Sept. 14th. This time the    subject will be concerning footcare.
